Airfare to Costa Rica, wellness spa bookings, travel insurance and additional excursions are not included.

Do I have to be a member of the Beyonding Community to attend the Beyonding Retreat?

The Beyonding Retreat is not only for members of the Beyonding Community. Both members and non-members can attend.

What is the transportation from SJO to Imiloa?

Included in your retreat experience at Imiloa is the small plane which we charter privately for just your retreat group. This is already included in your stay with us. If you are arriving on the same day the retreat starts, arrival to SJO should be prior to 7:00AM. If this is not possible, please book your flight the day before and spend the extra night in San Jose (see hotel options below). Your departure flight from SJO should be after 1:00PM.

Make sure you are at SJO domestic terminal by 8:45AM. Group charter flight departs at 9:15AM local time.  

Is this retreat open to men?

The Beyonding Retreat is an experience that is designed for women and centers the experiences of women of color.

What if I want to share a king sized bed on a single occupancy accommodation?

If you are interested in sharing a king size bed on a single occupancy room, there will be an additional registration fee (as each registration is all-inclusive). Please reach out to us a hello@beyondingretreat.com for more information.

What if I have to cancel?

Because we partner with retreat companies and centers that have strict refund policies, down payments are non-refundable.

We highly recommend getting "Cancel For No Reason" travel Insurance if you think you may have a conflict. Here is a travel insurance option for you.

What are my other options for getting to the retreat center?

Registration includes a private chartered plane for our retreat group. However, if you arrive after the chartered plane leaves or prefer ground transportation, this can be set up separately for an additional fee. Please inquire at welcomehome@imiloainstitute.com for more information. 

If I need to arrive the day before, what are some hotel options for me?

Hilton Garden Inn La Sabana
Located 25-30 mins from SJO airport, walking distance to the La Sabana park, National Stadium, and nearby restaurants. This hotel is a good choice if you would like to explore a bit of San Jose and city surroundings, just be mindful of travel time and transportation options to/from SJO airport.

Marriott Hotel Hacienda Belen
An upscale Marriott hotel, located approximately 10 min from SJO airport. We recommend this hotel if you prefer to have a nice property experience and want to be close to the airport.

Hampton Inn Airport Hotel
For a more economical option you may stay at the Hampton Inn located right across the street from the airport. They have a free shuttle between the airport and the hotel included in your stay.

Hotel Alta Las Palomas
Hotel Alta Las Palomas is located 30-40 mins from SJO airport in Santa Ana. It is a beautiful and contemporary hotel with quality service, accommodations, food and transportation all included in your stay. 

Can I opt into which parts of the Beyonding Retreat I want to attend?

We highly encourage you to attend the entire retreat. The retreat is intentionally designed to be a journey, so opting in and out of sessions not only may disrupt the experience for you, but also will prevent you from getting as much out of it as you can. Please note there will be free time available throughout the retreat for you to have some personal connection time.

What can I expect the climate to be like during the Beyonding Retreat?

Imiloa Institute is located 800 feet (240m) above sea level, making it a bit cooler than the beach, as well as less bugs. The average temperature is 85°F (27-33°C) during the day and 65-75°F (17-24°C) at night.

Can I stay someplace else other than the Imiloa Institute?

The Beyonding Retreat package pricing includes your full lodging accommodations, food & beverage and retreat experience. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide alternative retreat registration pricing.
